Sony today announced a new Xperia Tablet Z that follows some of the
trends of its previous Xperia tablets, but upgrades the device with some
new features that are more competitive with tablets set to be released
this year. The Xperia Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch screen with a WUXGA
display and Mobile BRAVIA, Sony's custom displays with optimized colors
and brightness settings. It has a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of
RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software with
Sony's custom user experience and suite of mobile applications for media
consumption. It also has an 8.1 megapixel rear camera with Exmor R that
does a better job of taking auto photos based on light settings nearby.
Front-facing speakers give the Xperia Tablet Z a virtual surround
sound, and the presence of NFC enables one-touch streaming of photos or
music to compatible devices.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z has LTE connectivity and will be available in
black or white color options. The tablet will first be sold in Japan
this spring.
